The USDA had announced the recall of almost 90,000 pounds of chicken nuggets that were sold in Wal-Mart stores. The frozen chicken nuggets were made by Perdue Farms Inc. and were sold with the “Great Value” label.
These recalled products may contain plastic products inside the chicken. Officials have said that no injuries were reported from the products but there have been complaints of consumers finding blue pieces in their nuggets.
The product code for the recalled products are the one-pound 13-ounce bag of nuggets with a “Best If Used By date of June 9, 2010.

Baja Motorsports Mini Bikes and Go-Carts and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced the voluntary recall of their mini bikes and go-carts due to a fire or burn hazard.
The fire can occur when the gas cap leaks or detaches from the fuel tank on the recalled vehicles. There is also a sudden acceleration risk because where the fuel line and cable throttle are positioned.
There have been 9 reports of the fuel cap coming off or leaking and in one case, the defect caused a serious fire that injured a child. There has been 25 reports of the throttles getting stuck and causing injury to the face and other body parts.

The U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commision and Seattle Bike Supply have issued a voluntary recall of 2010 Redline Conquest Cyclocross Bicycles and Framesets because the forks on the bike could come lose, causing the driver to lose control of the bicycle and possibly fall and become injured.
Nearly 330 units have been recalled and includes the framesets and bicycles that are yellow and black. These bicycles are sold nationwide between July 2009 and May 2010. People are urged to stop using the products and to return it to the store for a fork replacement.

Merrick Pet Care has recalled 86 cases of Beef Filet Squares for dogs due to a possible salmonella contamination.
Products that are involved in the recall have a sticker on the bottom of the bag with the Best By date of March 24, 2012. The company has not received reports of illness from the product but the Federal Drug Administration tested a sample and found that it was contaminated with salmonella.
The salmonella can not only make the pets sick but also the owners if they touch the salmonella. Consumers are urged to not open the container and to bring it back the retailer it was purchased at.

Two separate ground beef recalls occurred in California and New York. According to reports, the ground beef may been contaminated with E. coli.
The recalls were announced by the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. E. coli bacteria can cause kidney failures, dehydration, and diarrhea.

Campbell soup has voluntarily recalled 15 million pounds of Spaghetti-o’s. The recall includes three different products including Spaghetti-o’s A to Z, Spaghetti-o’s with meatballs and Spaghetti-o’s with fun shapes and meatballs.
Campell’s has said that the products were under-processed. The affected products have a use by date between June 20-10 to December 20-11. Consumers that have purchased the defective products should not eat them. The defective cans can be returned to the store for an exchange or refund.

Kroger recalled some ice sold in its Indiana stores. According to reports from the supermarket chain, the recall was made for its Deluxe Chocolate Paradise Ice Cream.
The product may contain tree nuts, which were not listed as an ingredient on the label. Kroger recalled the product to prevent any possible allergic reactions by people allergic to tree nuts and unaware that they were in the ice cream.

Ikea Canada has voluntarily recalled 1.7 million blinds because they could be potentially harmful for children if they are installed incorrectly.
A recall notice has been posted on Ikea’s website to notify consumers of the hazard. The recall includes Roll up Blinds, Roman blinds and Roller blinds. Each of these blinds have chords and looped beaded chains that could present a choking hazard if installed incorrectly and placed around a child’s neck.
The recall comes after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission received a report about a toddler almost being strangled in Massachusetts last year. The blinds may be brought back to the Canadian Ikea for a refund.

Pirates of the Caribbean twin beds were recalled by Bayside. According to company reports, the beds were being sold at Costco stores across the country.
The beds apparently have a storage bin that can pose a risk of injury to children. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, at least one boy has gotten trapped in the bin.

Whirlpool Corp. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have voluntarily recalled 1.7 million dishwashers due to fire hazard.
The recall comes after 12 reports of fires happening after heating elements in the dishwasher fail after having an electrical issue. The fires have caused severe damage to the dishwasher and in one case, severe damage to the entire kitchen. Models affected in the recall include Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef.
A source from Business Week said that a person that has the recalled dishwasher can either choose to have someone come out and fix the dishwasher or have up to $250 for a new dishwasher.
