Nationwide recall of eggs after salmonella contamination

Posted on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at 8:11 am

A nationwide recall of eggs has been announced due to salmonella contamination traced back to eggs that were distributed from Wright County Egg in Iowa.

The Center of Disease Prevention and Control said that multiple brands are involved in the recall such as Albertson’s, Ralph’s, Farm Fresh, Dutch Farms, Kemps, Lund, Mountain Dairy and more. There have been 266 illness reports in California alone.

The sell by dates on the eggs are between May 16 and August 13. The salmonella contamination was found on the shell of the egg and officials are urging consumer to not eat the raw egg. Customers are urged to discard the eggs and a full refund is available.
