What is the statute of limitations?
When an individual is injured because of another person’s actions, they may not immediately pursue legal action against the responsible party, instead choosing to do so at a later date. However, accident victims cannot indefinitely postpone legal action for the consequences of an accident because of the statute of limitations, or the time frame in which injury victims may pursue compensation for their pain and suffering. Once the statue of limitations has passed, it is no longer possible to hold the responsible individual accountable for the consequences of their actions.
