Hewlett-Packard Co., the Palo Alto-based computer company, issued a voluntary recall of the lithium-ion batteries used in certain HP and Compaq notebook computers on May 21.
The recall is prompted by reports of batteries overheating, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. Since their earlier recall in May, 38 additional reports of batteries overheating and rupturing have been made, 11 of which resulted in minor personal injury and 31 of which resulted in minor property damages.
The models included in the recall are listed in the announcement. Consumers should immediately remove the batteries from their notebooks and contact HP to ascertain whether or not their battery is included in the recall (even if the battery has already been checked due to the prior recall). If qualified, consumers will receive a fee replacement battery.

The US Consumer Product and Safety Commission has announced a recall of some 1 million baby slings produced by Infantino after the products caused the deaths of three infants. The government has recalled 1.2 million high chairs that present a fall hazard to children.
The high chairs, manufactured by the Graco company, can tip over unexpectedly when the screws that hold the front legs to the chair loosen and fall out. So far, more than 460 complaints have been filed and 24 injured have been reported, including cuts, bruises, scratches, head injuries, and fractures.

The New Jersey product liability attorneys of Levinson Axelrod have learned that furniture manufacturer MooreCo has issued a recall for about 700 of its ergonomic office chairs.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the legs on the Spine Align and Posture Perfect Ergonomic Office Chairs can break, posing a falling hazard. Three people have reported minor injuries as a result of the chairs. Additionally, one person’s pre-existing back problem was aggravated.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and OSRAM SYLVANIA Products Inc. announced a recall for the company’s PalPODzzz line of portable night lights shaped like rocket ships. Giant publishing firm Simon & Schuster and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a recall for “Monday the Bullfrog,” a plush children’s book which presents a choking hazard to small children. According to the recall, the plastic eyes on the plush bullfrog (which holds the book in its mouth) can be easily pulled off and swallowed by children, presenting a serious choking hazard.
