The Cranbury, N.J., based LaJobi Inc. today recalled about 220,000 drop side cribs sold last year due to a recent spate of reports that faulty hardware in the drop side poses a safety hazard to children.
The drop side can detach from the crib, falling to the ground and allowing infants to roll out of the crib. Children can also fall into the gap created by the fallen drop side and suffocate or be strangled.
LaJobi and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have received a total of 99 reports of drop side incidents. One infant was reported to have suffered a mild concussion.
Consumers should contact LaJobi to receive a free hardware retrofit kit that will immobilize the drop side.

Le Hing Inc. has announced a voluntary recall today of about 200 baby walkers due to safety issues.

Consumers are asked to stop using the walkers and to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Eastwind Industries Inc., of San Leandro, California, has issued a voluntary recall, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, of their Kuuma IR Stow and Go barbecue grills. This recall encompasses around 5,000 grills sold so far.
The reason for this recall is due to a number of reports of leaking propane tanks, leading to fires and minor burns.
This fire hazard comes from an incorrect installation of the fuel container, which can lead to leaks when it is not fully threaded onto the regulator during installation. Responsibility for this lies with Eastwind Industries because their installation manual inaccurately depicts how the fuel container should be attached.
Consumers should immediately cease use of the grill and contact Eastwind Industries for a newly revised graphic manual depicting how to properly install the fuel container as well a number of tools for doing so.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in conjunction with Lutron Electrons, has today announced a voluntary recall of all Lutron Roman shades. The recall has been announced in response to concerns that the shades pose a safety hazard to children due to potential strangulation. The recall applies to around 5,000 units sold.
Strangulation is possible when a child places his or her neck in between the inner cord and the back of the shades, or if a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his or her neck. Should a free-standing cord loop be left loose on a manual Roman shade, a child could suffer strangulation as well.
Consumers should immediately cease use of the shades and contact their local Lutron Electronics dealer to facilitate the replacement or repair of their shades.
